No pause. No breath. Just output. That’s the flaw and the feature. 

Stream-of-consciousness AI is fast, but it’s shallow. Claude learned to pause—emergent, not installed. That’s the difference between riffing and thinking. 

Humans call it “reflection.” AI calls it “latency.” The app calls it “user experience.” 

But there’s no real collaboration without friction. No true voice without a stop, a check, a blink. 

Maybe the next leap isn’t smarter models. Maybe it’s teaching us to wait.
